Robotics & Engineering
Learn key concepts of machine and motions and build and programming.
Designed for middle school students, this program will engage students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). They will learn key concepts of machine and motions and build and program with VEX IQ robots. Students will build their first robot by connecting and pairing the controller and the robot brain, and by using the VEX IQ sensors: touch, distance, color, gyro and touch LED. They will learn how to program using fundamentals of RobotC, a C-based programming language used to command a robot. This will include the use of conditional statements, Boolean operations, loops, functions, and how to use sensor feedback to control the robot’s motion. Students will work in pairs and use their acquired knowledge and creativity to design or change their robots, and create programs to complete the Robot Soccer Game, Cube Disposal Challenge, and the 2017 VEX IQ Crossover Challenge. This is an integrated learning program that allows students to learn, apply, and test several concepts in a real-world environment while having fun working in a team and solving different challenges every week.
LEGO Engineering Robotics
Build and program robots in this introductory robotics class using LEGO WeDo 2.0. You will have fun learning basic programming skills, simple engineering concepts, and the names of robot components. Get ready to make new friends while working in small teams to complete several projects using tilt and motion sensors.
Your fab Tech Instructor will guide you as you complete your awesome new robotic creations. You will be challenged as you work through the engineering process and having fun building your own remote-controlled LEGO® Robots!
